Sarah Micklem has made a living as a graphic designer for the past 20 years. She wrote Firethorn while working as an art director for children's magazines in New York City, and she is now working on the second book of the Firethorn trilogy. She lives with her husband, poet and playwright Cornelius Eady, in New York City.
